Information Needed for Your Seed A Legacy Application
Collect the information needed to complete your application including:
  • Two (2) Aerial Photos (you may be able to obtain the two aerial photos requested showing your project location from your local USDA office or using an application like Google Earth):
    • 1) An aerial photo of the site location with the project/property area clearly marked.
    • 2) An aerial photo showing the location of the project/property area and including 1.5 miles of the landscape in each direction surrounding the proposed project.
  • Three (3) Site Photos: Photos that clearly show the proposed habitat project site to assess the current site condition. Ground level photos of the existing vegetation are needed so we can see the existing cover.
  • UTM Coordinates of the Site.
  • Location of the nearest apiary to the proposed site. (Visit your state's resource page above to access an apiary locator for your state)
  • Records of crops planted and herbicides used in the past two years on the proposed site.
  • Contact, shipping, and general site information.

The Bee & Butterfly Habitat Fund’s habitat programs provide proven pollinator benefits including high-quality forage for honey bees and other pollinators across the entire growing season. Preliminary data shows that NextGen Habitat Projects support some of the highest abundance and diversity of plants preferred by honey bees and other pollinators. “High-quality forage goes hand-in-hand with pollinator health and productivity,” - Dr. Clint Otto, Research Ecologist with the US Geologic Survey.
