Habitat Options

Our Seed A Legacy program may not be a good fit right now, but you can still take the next step for pollinators.

Whether your project is under 2 acres, outside our current Seed A Legacy program area, or you’re simply not ready to apply, The Bee & Butterfly Habitat Fund (BBHF) has resources to help you move forward.

Option 1: Start with Better Seed

Bring BBHF’s habitat approach to your own project

The seed you choose can make a big difference in the quality of habitat you establish.

BBHF seed mixes are designed for specific regions and evaluated using our science-based Pollinator Value Scoring system to help provide diverse, high-value food resources for pollinators throughout the growing season.

Even if your project isn’t part of Seed A Legacy, you can still plant with seed designed using the same habitat expertise that guides our work across the country.

Option 2: Establish Habitat On Your Own

Start with our Pollinator Habitat Guide.

Establishing successful pollinator habitat takes more than scattering wildflower seed. Proper planning, site preparation, planting and long-term management all play an important role in creating habitat that lasts.

Our Pollinator Habitat Guide shares practical, expert-backed guidance to help you plan, establish and manage your own habitat project.

Our work continues to grow, and so do the ways you can get involved.

Option 3: Stay Connected

Every habitat project can make a difference.

Whether you’re planting with BBHF seed, using our resources to establish habitat on your own, or staying connected until the right opportunity comes along, your efforts can help create a better future for pollinators and the environment.
